As a gamer myself and whilst working in the gaming & eSports ( Electronic Sports ) industry, games are very important to me. In order to produce better quality products, content etc. I must play games, sounds pretty cool huh? But put that on the side right now, we’re here to discuss why is playing games actually important? Well I can start by saying that firsts it develops your social skills a person, depending on the gaming category. But most of you play games with other people, friends etc. Gaming with somebody in our new modern age is so much easier and even more fun! Secondly I believe that every game has to offer up something new for you to learn, like in example in shooter games, you’re really focused to take down your target and you always create new strategies on how to defeat your opponent. This in my opinion gives you an extra edge, a new skill which you may use for your professional career later on. Another great example for this is RPG and MMORPG games. They teach you and make you understand things of every day living. How to manipulate with money, credits, how to trade your merchandise for things that are of more use to you etc. I personally myself reached a new understanding of the business while managing an auction on World of Warcraft, this may sound silly to those who haven’t tried the game or tried this part exactly, but it’s true.
Games nowadays are built so complex with so much possibilities, that a person can have more opportunities in virtual games and to achieve certain things than in the real world. Don’t get me wrong, staying focused on the real world is more important and you shouldn’t hide your emotions behind a game, but opportunity wise is so much more than just a game. As the gaming & eSports industry grows more and more, we reach a new level of depth you can reach in the gaming world. Today, if you’re really good at the game you play you can hunt for a professional, amateur career and get actually paid for it. I can’t even begin to imagine how cool it will be to be a professional eSports player in 5 or 10 years from now.
So in the end, I must say and agree that playing games is important. However how much you play them, that’s purely up to you. But I stand by my opinion that playing a variety of games develops you a new set of skills that may prove to be useful and pay off in the future. Gaming is a great creativity jump start. If you haven’t played games before in your life, I just gave you more than a few reasons why to start!
